A reminder on Pampas grass seeds and how to identify them. They continue to pose a real issue for the packhouse resulting in various market restrictions on fruit, including Australia (our biggest recipient of class two). To help prevent this in future, we ask that you eradicate this weed where possible, especially if it is growing in close proximity to your fruit.

Here’s how to tell the difference between our native Toe Toe Grass and the noxious Pampas Grass

The best ways to eradicate this is either digging out small plants and seedlings, or chain-sawing them back. Bulldozers can be used for larger plants, then compost or leave to rot, and burn the flower heads. The other way of eradicating is using approved herbicides.
