You loved it so much last year – we are back for 2026!

It’s time to lace up those shoes again for another fantastic FREE community fun run/walk.

Whether you’re a seasoned runner or a casual stroller, this event is for you and your family. It’s not just about crossing the finish line; it’s about coming together as a community. Join in, get active and have fun!

Enjoy a scenic route starting at Katikati’s iconic War Memorial Hall, making your way past the Dave Hume pool through Kati walkways, a Hume family kiwifruit orchard, past Hume Pack-N-Cool, back through the streets to where you started.

All start times and event courses are subject to change dependent on road conditions and road availability. The start times and event courses will be confirmed in advance of the event and course description, and maps will be updated with the final event course.

Dress Up In Blue

Go crazy and get dressed up! Whether it's a blue wig, tutu, scarf or shoes - anything goes. Dressing in blue is not mandatory, but it's a fun way to unite our community and add an extra splash of colour. Prizes available for best dressed. Looking forward to seeing everyone in BLUE!

Prize Giving: 11.30am (at latest)

Prize Giving will begin as soon as the last 10km participation crosses the finish line, or at 11.30am at latest. Enjoy a complimentary sausage sizzle for all runners/walkers and face painting while you cheer on others across the finish line. Hang around for prize-giving to win some great prizes from local businesses. You must be at prize-giving to claim your prize.

Car Parking

Parking is available in and around the Katikati township, including behind the War Memorial Hall, and also along the neighbouring streets at the start/finish.

Course Summary

5km / 10km Run/Walk

Important Notes:

This year due to the course change for the 10km track, both the 5km and 10km are designed for all abilities including prams/wheelchairs. Although there are some gravel sections of the path, and a small amount of grass/roadside to go over, a pram and assisted wheelchairs can pass over these sections.

NO DOGS, BIKES OR SCOOTERS!!

All events start and finish at the iconic Katikati War Memorial Hall on the Main Street, Katikati. Heading south, turning left on to Jocelyn Street head towards the Dave Hume Pool then follow the George Vesey Stewart Park pathways. Cross over Fairview Rd onto the Kati Kaiway Reserve pathway, then crossing over Gilfillan Drive and Wills Road onto the boardwalk/ gravel pathway, before entering one of the Hume family kiwifruit orchards. Head along Prospect Drive past the Hume Pack-N-Cool facilities, where an aid station and toilets will be located. Head along Beach Road back towards town, weaving your way through the streets, until you make it to the Katikati Community Centre on Beach Road.

5km Run/Walk

Continue on Beach Road past the college until you get to Carisbrook Street, turn left.

Cross the road and cut through the pathway along by Common Ground Café, towards the library, and back to finish at the War Memorial Hall.

10km Run/Walk – NEW COURSE FOR 2026!!

Follow the footpath on Park Rd all the way to the end by Summerset Retirement Village where you will cross the road and enter the Yeoman walkway. Follow this pathway along the Uretara Estuary, which will do a full loop and bring you back to Beach Road. Cross at the T intersection at Beach Road and Noble Johnston Dr, head up towards Katikati Primary and cross over the pedestrian crossing in front of the school.

Turn Right onto Beach Road rejoining the 5km lap, turning left into Carisbrook, over the road, down the path by Common Ground Cafe, behind the library and in behind the War Memorial Hall to finish.

Aid Station/ Toilets

Toilets will be available at the start/finish line,

There will be two aid stations:

  1. Hume Pack-N-Cool - Water available for all participants. Toilets available here.
  2. End of Park Road/ start of the Yeoman walkway - Water will be available. Portaloo available here.

This event welcomes everyone, no matter your pace or experience. If you’re a walker and are ready to challenge yourself by stepping into running, we’ve got you covered. Our 6-week training programme is designed to support and guide you every step of the way as you build up to completing your very first running event.

Although this is a free event, we are asking for a donation for the local Katikati Food Bank. The foodbank provides emergency food assistance for those in need, so bring along a gold coin or more on the day to support this great cause.
